Huddersfield Town offer Chris Powell manager's job

Huddersfield Town have offered former Charlton boss Chris Powell their vacant manager's job.

BBC Radio Leeds understands contracts have been drawn up for the 44-year-old and his assistant Alex Dyer.

The Terriers have been without a manager since parting company with Mark Robins the day after their 4-0 opening day home defeat by Bournemouth.

They have since been under the caretaker charge of academy boss Mark Lillis.

Former England international Powell has been out of the game since being sacked as Addicks manager in March.

He guided the club to the League One title in his first full season in charge in 2011-12, having taken over from Phil Parkinson in January 2011.

They finished ninth in their first season back in the second tier but struggled last season and Powell was relieved of his duties with the club bottom of the Championship.

If he takes over at the John Smith's Stadium his first game will be the home match against Middlesbrough on Saturday, 13 September.
