Arsenal red card 'killed the game', says boss Arsene Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes the referee "killed the game" after he send off goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny during the first leg of their last - 16 Champions League loss to Bayern Munich.

The referee Nicola Rizzoli showed Szczesny a straight red card after he tripped Bayern Arjen Robben in the first half of Wednesday's 2 -0 defeat at home to the Champions League holders.

Bayern's David Alaba hit the post from the resulting penalty but the German side were able to take complete control of the game as they took advantage of the extra man , eventually winning the match through Kross and Thomas Muller goals.
